About the Philippines

The Philippines is an island country in Southeast Asia comprised of over 7100 islands. There are a myriad of ethnic groups and over 170 local languages, though Filipino (Tagalog) and English are the official languages of the government. It is officially secular, but has strong ties to the Catholic Church. Over 90% of the population self-identifies as Christian, while 5% self-identify as Muslim.  Family life is valued. Materialism is less rampant than in some parts of the world. People work hard and laugh hard. If you’ve ever seen a karaoke stand here, you know they also sing hard. Filipinos tend to be very welcoming and accepting of others.
I consider our time here a gift and a blessing and hope to be here many more years.
